The most common thing I've been told by near every recruiter is that they require 1 year exp. some 6 months within the past 3 for hire. W/S I don't know but many companies will take you as an exp. driver as long as you don't pass that 3 yr mark. Once you do you have to go back to school for a refresher. And with that the refresher is just as long as the regular 160hrs. since you only have been away for 2 yrs you should be able to get back in the seat. But your clock is ticking.

NOTE: Anyone that is looking at a refresher. There are short courses like 60hrs. But every recruiter I spoke to said they required 160 hr min. Beware a 60hr may be only good for putting a hole in your pocket.

Thanks Greenwheeler! I will check into WS with a recruiter soon then. It will be 2 years off the road at the end of July so I have a bit of time but I want to be back to driving by September hopefully. I appreciate the info.

How many miles are you averaging per week and what is the starting cpm rate with W/S? Is it pretty easy to get to a place where you are making $700 or more per week on a regular basis?

Also, do you bump a lot of the same docks or do you find yourself going to all kinds of different shippers and receivers? Any input is much appreciated.

Starts at. 25cpm, you'll get 2500-4000 miles a week, paychecks $700-$1100 take home a week

Lots of the same places once you've been here a while

If you're doing a lot of LTL out of the east coast, that's true enough. It's more difficult when you're mostly driving out west.

I lost you, misc. What is LTL and are you saying you get more miles driving east coast than you do driving all 48 and driving out west?
