Sleep on the bottom bunk and drink Nyquil.
cabwrecker Thanks this. -
DO NOT DRINK NYQUILL. It is a banned substance for truck drivers. Most sleep aids are.
If your tired enough you will sleep. It does take some getting used to but a week or 2 into it most of us get used to it. That being said, dont hang out in sleeper while awake. You need to train your body that when you go into the sleeper its bed time. If you must hang out int he sleeper while not trying to sleep, sit up, and go on the other end. Some find things like drinking tea helpful. In my experience my body needs sleep. One bad night of sleep and the next i will be dead tired abel to sleep through anything.Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
I take 2 10mg of melatonin. Knocks me out within 10 minutes.

It's simple, either figure a way to sleep in a moving bunk, or don't drive teams.
These are your options.
The world is a brutal place, but options are simple.
PS- I drove teams for a GOOD long while when I was OTR. It was in a very sick way, fun. I loved driving teams because my team mate and I had a lot of fun times, a lot of bad time, but mostly a lot of boring times. It was great to always have a spotter, it was great to have a friend, someone who I could talk to when I was tired and pulling in the last leg of a trip. I had a lot of good time running teams, I had a lot of bad times running teams. It makes you a STRONGER PERSON. It makes you one the strongest people, anyone will have the opportunity to meet.
And I drank nyquil all the time! edit; I usually just got the over the counter dextromorthan tablets, too.
Listen to Chinatown, I've paid attention to him, and he knows more than most drivers will ever hope to know.Klatu Thanks this. -
When was Nyquil banned? That's the first I've heard of it. I know several drivers that use it, including me, and we all pass the drug test. One driver I know uses it every day and has for years & he passes the drug test.

Any equipment that may help? I believe the pressure from ear plugs would damage flesh over extended use.
