Good morning guys and gals,
Maybe my aspirations are to high or im living in a fantasy world. I am interested in starting out driving tankers "hauling whatever" when I get out of driving school.
Im not saying Im entitled or don't have to put my time and earn it, im just curious if their are any companies out in Cali, Or, Wash, Az, or Nv that hire newbies to drive their tankers. Ive done some research and found only a small amount of info on this topic. Thanks in advance!

Schneider Tanker doesn't hire from the West coast(unless, you relocate). Have to be in TX, or Midwest or East coast. ChinaTown will be along soon, he will send you in the right direction.
harlycharly55, Puppage and w.h.o Thank this. -
come to west texas theres plenty of companies that give you a chance

There's a company named Robertsons that hires new CDL grads. They have dry bulk tankers hauling cement powder.
Main thing is, ignore any "experience required" and submit an application before any phone calls. It's better a company has something to look at when you do call or walk in. Couple of drivers around the Bay area landed good fuel hauling jobs by doing this.
Try these:
Trimac

Petersen5710 .....I am training with Schneider Bulk and I am from the East coast. Softail, you say they don't hire over there which I wouldn't know about. Hey - are you on HDforums ? I see a lot of biker screen names here. I was sure no-one would hire a recent grad to drive tankers, because all the ads said at least a year or two experience. But they are training other rookies at the academey. I did have class 2 passenger experience from years ago, and I have a near spotless record and every endorsement plus TWIC so maybe that figured into it. I can tell you that driving a tanker w/liquid right out of class A school is like getting a big bore Harley as your first bike, a little scary. But Schneider is very intense training and 100% safety oriented from day one. Good luck wherever you go

Blackfly- When I talked with a Schneider recruiter a couple weeks ago and that is what he told me. Yes, I am on HD forums.

Superior Carriers is probably not an option. You need to live close to a terminal that runs OTR. The farthest west ones are Markham, Il, Memphis and Pasadena Tx. There is a Parker Az terminal but I believe they stay west. I have never met a driver from there.

Schneider does have a few and I mean a few local and regional bulk positions available around L.A. I did a month out there once filling in. It won't be easy to get on.
You can try Trimac, we have a terminal in Hayward, Ca, it won't be easy to get on with us either. If you're interested shoot me a P.M and I'll ask one of the managers what they think.Skydivedavec and scythe08 Thank this.
