Hey gang - I'm confident this question has been asked before, but I haven't been able to find much on it. What recommendations do you have for getting the truest height measurement of your rig? Things that come to mind for me include:

    a) parking on level / paved ground
    b) starting up the truck / idling it for a few minutes to pressurize system
    c) low amount of diesel in the tank (figured the more diesel it has, the lower the ride height)
    d) remove all accessories that are used regularly from the truck (e.g. winter chains)
    e) make sure no one is sitting inside when you measure
    f) disconnecting / pulling away from the trailer (if the only concern is about cab height and not trailer height)

What else am I missing? Any suggestions?

I don't think you need to remove anything or run the tanks low. The air suspension leveling valve will keep it at the same height no matter what. Just make sure you start it up and let it build air. Then measure from the highest point, usually the tip of the stacks.

Try this method or get a laser measure

The only thing that really matters is that you have the truck started and the air suspension inflated. It self-levels, so you don't have to worry about weight on it.

All of the above, but would only add, measure it while sitting on a scale... they are a sure way to guarantee everything is as level as you'll find.

Seen a similar method but didn't use the arm reach nor moving the body to adjust to the tree... But looks a bit easier if only one person too... I still like the laser option best... :)

Why do you need the exact height?

IMO it's part of a driver's job to know those things.

Empty trailer too, especially if you're running spring ride equipment.

For what reason? If your close your good enough. There will be more variances in the road versus going with 13' 13'6", 14' etc...
