Man, such a simple job is sure getting complicated. lol
About 6 years ago I pulled my tanks off my haul road truck and had my son weld 4 in X1/8 inch straps around the tanks where the straps ride. The haul road running in all the mud and gavel, plus the calcium they put down is hard on them, this solved that problem permanatly.
Any tips on installing a fuel level sensor assembly in a tight space?

Well, a quick update. I went the hole route. Had to disconnect the refrigerant line brackets to give space for the head because my coolant lines (metal) and refrigerate lines run right above the opening for the float! So the refrigerant line can be moved over some. Taking a quick break and then see if I can get her in. Maybe I invest in a plasma cutter one day, would of made for much prettier cuts than the cut off wheel I’m pretty sure

Oh my. I'm not sure anyone was actually serious about the hole in the floor.

Thanks y’all for the insight and tips. I got her in! Works good, sealed it back up decent... and ... it works. So, if I ever need another, I got a hole. Cost was $10 for new sheet metal and a couple hours of labor. I already had my passenger seat out. U guys are awesome. I try to help too, so thanks. (I still have to clean up and put the other big plate down and my custom diy a/c box back over it)

Nice job man. That’s one thing about doing it yourself. It may be a pain but that pride can’t be bought.

You seriously cut the hole right in the support part of the floor, Geesh, This is just the kind of jerry rigging that is hard to spot when looking to buy a used truck.
All that to save 2 hours work with hand tools, I would have run forever using a yard stick for a fuel gauge before I started butchering a truck.FlaSwampRat, SL3406, pushbroom and 1 other person Thank this. -
