They have a regional tanker position listed locally. I don't have my CDL yet, but a local school is on their approved list. Should I apply before I get started?

Yes, talk to the terminal manager and ask if the school you want to attend is on their list of approved schools.
They do hire new cdl grads, but only from certain schools.
    Where is your location?

I'm in Louisville, KY. Thought I had put that in my profile, but must not have hit save. Thanks for the reply.

Another new cdl grad in Louisville was hired with Trimac there recently and he has good things to say about it. If I can jog my memory to remember his screen name, I'll give it to you.
He went to the terminal and introduced himself before even starting school.
He posts on the "Questions From New Drivers" thread.

    Need4Speed and Mooseontheloose Thank this.

I've met a few of those 'local guys' at a place I pick up from in NC. They seem happy. Only thing to remember, if you are home nightly, show up at your TIME! Alot of those guys will drive 4 hours, thinking they will get unloaded early, only to find out they won't until their time! That's the one thing about running a tanker, don't show up early unless told to. I will say 3 out of the 6 guys that I've talked to did say they do 'mirco-manage' you. (ie cameras on road, driver, although they 'say' it's not turned on, 2 guys told me they are turned on for driver!)

    SOAthor and nowright Thank this.
