I really enjoy reading the board and valuable information it contains. However, I'm wondering if its all about money? I know what your thinking-this day and age yeahhhh rightttt!!!!! For those of you with a wife, kids, house, and car payment at home I know this wont apply. But what about those with none of the above? Does anyone enjoy themselves on the road and not concerned/obligated to make money to support whats waiting for them during hometime?

Makes a BIG difference, whether or not a driver is single or has dependents. Being on the road and eating and also sending money home to pay mortgage and home bills means driver needs more $$$.

Unless you're a 2 income family,I don't know how drivers can make it on a truckers salary with a family.I don't have a family nor the bills many of you have.

my husband is just starting out & I work full time myself making 33k a year, as long as my husband can make enough to pay the morgage then I make enough to pay the rest of it. I can't imagine the stress on the driver if he/she had to support a home & family all on his/her own. it would seem like a good living for a single person except for the lack of a social life ;)

I'm not concerned. Although my mom, and the wife say I'm anal about money.

Mine are grown. Wife doesn't "really" work. She makes $40-$120 a week cleaning a couple of houses. About 8 hours a week.

I raised 2 kids and put my ex through college on a truck drivers salary.

But, I live within my means at all times. Don't own a credit card.

It's called living within your means and financial budget.

If that means not having a new car this year and having one that's paid off, then have a car that's paid off.

If that means living in a 1100 SF rambler instead of a 2800 SF, then live in an 1100 SF rambler.

I know a trainer from Prime and he makes good money training,he could not make it on a truckers income if he was'nt training.Right now he's waiting for another student and worried about his bills.

that is awesome, being his first year driving we aren't worried about him making a fortune, but if the subsequent years pay well I would love to go to nursing school :) I think we will be all right
