For the driver asking about the scanner. Ours is on the counter for the customer to use. We don't do it unless a customer needs help. We are always willing to show someone how it works. It's actually really easy,
unfortunately many are intimidated by computers and won't even try to learn. Obviously not anyone here, since you guys are on a computer.
I want to thank you all for your kind responses. Have a great day and hope to see you in my store one dayHFC Thanks this. -
What happened to pilots and flying j that were at the same exit? Did one close or do they have to of the same stores at one exit? Just wondering, I know there were both in carmel church, va.

The Petro at that same exit lost its franchise and became independent. It is now known as the Ruther Glen Travel Center owned by Highway Venture Services (based in Ashland, VA) that owns three other T/S's on the East Coast. They have the last remaining buffet on that exit. Not as extensive as I would like but its the only buffet in town.
Travel Centers of America is at Exit 89 (Richmond Travel Center) and Exit 92 (Ashland Travel Center) on I 95 in Virginia.
Another truck stop would be the Doswell All American Plaza at Exit 98, I 95 -- the same one for King's Dominion Amusement Park.
With the Servicetown T/S in Fredericksburg, VA being torn down and the site turned into a Target department store, there is no other T/S between Exit 104, I 95 and Washington, DC. The next T/S would be Travel Centers of America / Baltimore South in Jessup, MD on Exit 41 A, I 95.Last edited: Feb 11, 2011

I see not all PFJ's have been converted to Denny's and I ran into a few of the original (whatever it was before the merger) that still had a buffet. I was a bit relieved.
One good thing that came out of this merger is now only needing 1 loyalty card instead of 2. Plus with Petro and TA combining, that cuts the loyalty cards from 4 (total) to 2. -
the reasons keep piling up as to why i avoid the peelots and airplane locations unless it is unavoidable. my company uses the T/A's for preferred fueling.
on a side note, the downtown Nashville T/A has reopened. drove by there yesterday afternoon. -
I think Doswell closed in December. My policy is to avoid using Pilot,Flying J and Loves whenever possible even if it costs more to stop elsewhere.Don`t know what I will do when nothing else is left.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Pilot, and now Flying J, are hell bent on turning every customer into a full-blown, insulin-shooting diabetic?
"Would you like a Kit Kat for just 50 cents to go with your coffee? No? Well how about a 50lb sack of cane sugar? A 55 gallon drum of high fructose corn syrup to help get you through your day?"[/QUOTE]
Hello there, I don't think they want to turn anyone into diabetics. It's just another "up-sell". As for it being annoying. Oh God yes, imagine having to ask that a million times every day. I know, a lot of customers hate to hear this. Well we are not to crazy about having to offer the extra stuff. They actually keep track of the sales and print out report at the end of the month and if we don't sell enough 2-fers we get in trouble. I personally have been told I would lose my hours if I don't sell enough. I cannot afford to lose any hours, I have bills to pay. This decisions come from corporate as well as what products we sell.lilillill Thanks this. -
No wonder the gal in Siloam, GA was batting her eyes at me as she tried to push a Kit Kat on me... and here I thought she wanted me for my body. Lol
