You may get more replies typing this question in the Werner part of the forum. Most of our flatbed guys on TTR are either O/O's, or work for more elite companies hauling various decks / HH etc.....
    Best wishes, however!

I bet Werner will simply assign you your trainer after you go thru their orientation. I don't work for Werner but that's what my company did.

Reasons behind the allegations? Just wondering... never been there myself; have a neighbor starting with them in October.

I was trucking back when Werner was a good company. They had some of the nicest trucks that would flat out run. The drivers all liked working there & seemed to make decent money for the time. I considered working for them but had a decent local gig hauling gas.

Then I stepped away from trucking to pursue other interests. I didn't keep up with anything truck related during that time.

I came back to trucking in 2007, because I didn't have recent experience all the companies said I would have to retrain. Didn't like the idea but had the hankering to get back in a truck. Saw a Werner truck & remembered the old days.

So i called, set up a date for orientation in Dallas, checked in at the terminal hotel, just watched, lingered & listened.

Didn't see or hear a single driver that was happy, Asked a few drivers what kind of money they were averaging a week, the numbers they gave were crap, there's a local convenience store chain that will start you out at higher pay with no experience.

I arrived at the hotel at 5 p.m., by 8 p.m. I had decided to bug out.

Now mind you, the industry has completely changed from when I was first in it, other than the comfort level of the trucks it hasn't been for the better. But what they expect a newbie to put up with & at ridiculous compensation levels, it's no wonder that there are so many window lickers jumping off the short bus & into a big truck. They don't know any better & they still have a window to lick.

To the OP, I'm not suggesting you are a window licker, good people get caught up in bad situations sometimes while trying to achieve their goals. Luck be with you.

28 now. Started with Werner when I was just turning 22. I was there 18 months.. overall I'll give it 5 stars because it's so horrible in every aspect of trucking once you leave it's a dream come true. Honestly
