Yeah we don't won't make detention pay our main way of making money. If we are stuck loading and unloading, why not get paid for our time. Then drivers can run the 14 and 70 hour limit and still be making money. Otherwise drive sit for free and then they feel like they have push or need more hour to make money

Drivers that say they need more flexibility. We could change the HOS and say you can have more flexibility but you can't extend the 14 hour at the same place or town you load or unload. That would still make detention pay possible. You take away that 14 hour clock and we will probably lose detention pay when loading or unloading.

What is this eld you guys are speaking of? lol
I still run loose leaf if I run a log at all, but then we can drive 15 hours with 5 on duty for a total of 20.
We do still have to go by the 70 or 80 though.
Even with 15 hours driving, there are times due to weather that it still will not do, sometimes you just have to keep on trucking.

I guess that would be a matter of opinion as far as working conditions goes, personally I like them much better than running the lower 48. I truly hope I don't have to deal with your working conditions ever again, though I didn't mind it years ago.

Yes, we have all different hos rules, but there is valid safety reasons for it too. When you start north in the winter, there is one place you can get a cup of coffee half way and that is it for the next 250 miles.
In some conditions it will take all of the 15 hours to get that 500 miles, and in some conditions, much more.
Under normal conditions, I usually make it in 12 hours or a little less during the winter, summer it will be 12 hours under the best of conditions, probably average out to 14 or 15, sometimes more if it has been raining, but I don't beat my truck up as bad as some of the guys do.
