This was at a paccar stealership, MHC to be precise .
“Sorry gonna be two weeks to get the parts “
“what’s the part number so I can call
Around ?”
“oh, look, the Peterbilt dealer down the road has one , we will send someone to go pick it up”
the lazy hacks at a stealership are not the ones losing $10k a week in downtime , so they have zero motivation to find your part , if their computer says they don’t have one in the storeroom or at the nearest distribution warehouse .
Anybody else tired of this??

Used vehicle financing is extra hidden profit for Dealers. Even the big franchise Dealers do it. I took time once to read the disclosure. I was buying a used 2 yr old Pontiac to help re establish my dented credit. 5 yr. Loan at 10%. Later refinanced with my Credit Union at 5%. They charged Me 10%, when they already had lending secured at maybe 5or 6%? No telling. Salespeople always get a bad rap for dishonesty. It’s the finance folks at closing who really are trying to squeeze a little more out of the deal. .5% here, and rip off extended warranties. You really have to watch the numbers at the closing. Last used vehicle I bought, brought my 20 yr old at the time. Told her to pay close attention. The closer was so friendly and nice, talking fast, flipping numbers, trying to sell me a $3500 warranty. Claiming it only increased my payment by half the actual amount. She claimed she got me a better rate, so I could afford the warranty! Pretty Lame. Playing dumb I asked, are you saying I have to buy the warranty to get the good rate? the Lady’s attitude change drastically. I made her type up the contract twice, one with and one without the warranty. Then chose the one without warranty. By then She was downright rude.I really enjoyed it, and couldn’t have asked for a better example of their slimy practices. I enjoy playing dumb, being polite all along, and watching them try to wiggle around and finally unravel.

Would think most of the auto industry does the same.
Its been said to me before by a salesman, I don't want your cash, I want your credit. There is no margin in cash.
Seems that dealer you were dealing with can't see the forrest from the trees.
I bought a DAF purely because I drive past the Paccar KW/DAF dealer daily. They have 3 million in parts 10 mile away and double that 600 mile away, or overnight away if ordered before 4pm.
I crossed many brands off the possibilities because the support network appeared not to favour my chances of being on the road in 3 day max. Its a fail from me if a dealer does not have at least 1 of every part to build a brand new tractor of every model in the show room. After that they should have multiple parts of what they know older models go through, and still maintain that one of everything for trucks they have sold for up to 10 years old. Most the past cross reference anyway I'd imagine. If they don't than forget that brand as they are not in your favour. DAF was not my first choice and wins no beauty padgent, but it ticks the boxes and were cheaper than the KWs.Siinman and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
