I agree my musical knowledge has expanded in my 3 yrs driving although I find my self listening to the political channels both left and right, bloomberg, cnbc and news to get a feeling of how the country is doing and specially the markets with all these scary fluctuations these past few weeks. My boss own stock in 4 different companies and we can tell when he does well because I get a $700 bonus every six months but lately.....nada

I get bored when I listen to the same old crap on the CB. Every noob with a CB thinks he's the first one to think s*** up and come up with that cool handle for himself. *yawn*

But I don't get bored listening to my own engine...(was that a valve tap I heard?)...and looking at the scenery.

If you can't get over being bored, after trying some of the suggestions here, either go work in Dispatch or drink more coffee. I would hate to see your boredom "cured" in a tragic way.

Try thinking about what could happen should you nod off while you're driving. That might help.

Lest we not forget the guy who think's its cool to quote smokey and the bandit on the CB as though he is the first one to do it.

I wouldn't crucify him yet. He's in a new world and has to adapt. Not all were born with a silver shifter up their ***. :)

OP, you figured out how to occupy one hour of your brain. You have to come up with 10 more hours of stuff. There's all kinds of things you can do to keep your brain going. Cellphone, CB, music, satellite radio, story books, watching people, finding wildlife. Truckers are deep thinkers and can self entertain. Plan your stops and it breaks up your long trip into little trips. A break is always a refresher.

Stop listening to that depressing country music. :)
