Anybody have a million mile cascadia

I hear ya. It's not easy for the average guy to buy new at a decent price and terms.

 

There are a few cascadia with a series 60 in them. They should go to 1 million.

 

Although both of those are premium trucks, the price difference new between them and a Cascadia is insignificant compared to what it would be at 500k and 3 years old.

 

I am sure your truck had new style injectors installed when you bough it. Some times its better to buy en engine that have 700k miles than an engine that have 500-600k miles. At 600-650k all old style injectors leaks and make big , expensive problems.

 

I do still have one problem that vexes me. The jakes are extremely weak. I've had it in three different shops (two of them dealers) who tell me they're working OK. But all the mechanics do is push on the solenoid, hear the engine stumble, then say look they're working. They don't hold the truck back on hills. They don't make any noise. And I can't feel any difference when I turn them on and off. The light does come on, and they do interfere with my shifting a little bit. But they don't do anything else. I'm reluctant to try another shop now.

I have the DDDL software. It shows the on/off and stage selector switches working OK. I have replaced both the brake and clutch switches.

Any advice on what to try next?

 

what is the fault popping up when you turn on jakes? Jakes are weak on DD15. When engine oil is hot it get more weaker. Drive DL connected and monitor engine oil temperature and jake performance. You may have oil thermostat malfunctioning. Also if you have never replaced O-rings on solenoids find a time and replace it. When you pull out solenoids check to see wire mesh is clean or not on solenoids. Do yourself this job don't trust shops.

 

There are no faults popping up. I'll pull the solenoids and look at them when I get back home.

I have replaced the coolant thermostat, but where is the oil thermostat? I didn't know there was one.

If they are coming on and sound consistent they are probably fine drill a hole in exhaust if you want to hear them or make noise yourself that’s fun too.

 

No, they're not fine. When I can turn them on and feel nothing at all, even when I switch them on and off, then they are not fine.
