i'd go work for them. just to get your foot in the door if that's what it takes. and collect a paycheck.

i'd also have a laptop and internet available to me to keep looking elsewhere.

nothing wrong with you paying your own taxes. but like mentioned above. it's really not in your best interest.

Owner operators=1099 okay, company driver=w-2 nothing else. If a company pays someone by 1099 they are saying the driver is an independant and therefore you as a driver legally gets to pick and choose where and when you take a load, get your fuel along with any and all other business deals. You as a driver should also be renting or leasing the truck off of the company to be considered as a 1099 independant contractor. All it would take is one person calling in to the IRS and this company would be getting investigated. Be careful who you do business with.

Any company offering a 1099 i would run from.
In the eyes of the IRS you are self employed and will pay more taxes than a W-2 paid driver.

I worked under a 1099 deal back in the early 90's and learned the hard way about paying quarterly taxes, self employment taxes, ect.
NOT worth it unless the pay is about twice what the average company driver would make.

Bunch of bottom feeder rip offs that offer that 1099 BS...

Did your tax lady mention that it will cost you more doing it this way? You will see more of your pay going to taxes than you would if they did things the legal way.

Oh bull. You ALWAYS have a choice. If you've got 6 years of experience, someone out there will be more than happy to hire you and pay you legally. Keep looking until you find them.

You can be part of the problem or part of the solution. The choice is yours. We get the industry we deserve. If you're happy with an industry that takes advantage of its employees, the go work for these ###hats and don't complain later. If you want the industry to be better than that, then keep looking until you find someone who will pay you legally.
