I have an update on equipment:

I had an issue with my headlight lenses being cloudy so after bugging them they finallly got replaced.

The main update is I met some upper management types visiting our terminal from Green Bay. I was told in about 2 months they're getting new trucks and I'll probably move out of my old Volvo. I didn't hear what brands, but I think they lean toward Freighliner or Kenworth. One of the equipment issues I've read is they have a harder time working with Volvo. I'm not sure of the details.

As an experienced driver, you might have a better chance of getting a newer truck than the students. If you keep rolling without dealing with the shop, you might find it fairly laid back.

I've been sort of looking around at other companies mostly out of curiousity. If I get into a newer truck with a nicer sleeper or APU option, I might stick around.

Aside from equipment, it might be fair to do a search on here regarding Georgia Pacific. I don't think they're that bad, but they have their weird quirks or weird procedures.

One thing that does suck about GP is their Resin Glue bags that can sometimes spill. The Resin powder is extremely fine and annoying to sweep out a trailer. Also, never let that crap get wet.

I think their terminal is just a few miles from PTI.

I'm not sure about Raven from what I read and their ads always say Multi-Regional and I don't know what that means.

I'm also not sure if PTI to Raven would advance my career or be a sideways move basically just getting a different colored truck or maybe they're better equiped in the sleeper.

For now, I'll hold out a few months to see if I get a new truck. Most of the grief I've had with this company has been maintenance / repair issues so if that is addressed and I run steady, I might like it more. Also, I got rid of a ######## dispatcher and the new guy is much more laidback.

A good dispatcher and a new truck could change the picture dramatically.

I did finally get into a newer Freightliner Cascadia under 200k miles. It's an improvement over the Volvo, much more sleeper space and more room if I want to get a fridge in here.

I lived in SW Florida for 35. Just got rid of my house in December.

It got too crowded to the point of gridlock during the winter and too hot because of all the overbuilding during the summer.

Also they have ruined the Gulf by continually dumping the Caloosahatchee river bringing on red tide all the time.

I really like St Pete for boating. Much better water quality even in Tampa bay

About 5 to 10 degrees cooler in the winter time than Naples

Northern Florida up by Daytona I really liked Cocoa Beach.

It is considerably cooler there during the winter though
