What about Pandoria radio? How much data do you think that uses?
I'd actually like to set up downloading sirrus radio so I can hear it thru my headset.

    LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He would say don't do it, you will have to charge your phone more plus running the radio, it will make the alternator run more causing a greater load on the engine, which in turn will use .000000000000000000000000000000012 more fuel.

    *Pandora. It is live streaming.

If you use Slacker (which I love) you can cache music over a home wifi that will play for many hours. This was you won't use up your data minutes. A Slacker subscription is $9.95 a month.

I have a Kenwood with bluetooth. Works fine. I play stored music and do not use streaming apps so can't say about data use. I have used the HF phone feature, but I don't care for it and use a headset instead. The HF over the sound system seems to amplify any flaws on the caller's end, and I've had callers complain that my end is breaking up.

I do believe my hotspot interferes with it a little. I have a habit of leaving the hotspot on, easier to look at e-mail when making logbook entries on my laptop when I stop. When BigJohn54 drove for me, he was also having trouble with this on his headset (he was able to determine it was the hotspot causing problems). Albeit on an older phone and a low-end ear piece. My Blue Parrot headset works fine even with the hotspot on. I've been meaning to turn off the hotspot and re-try the HF on the sound system but keep forgetting to.

I don't care for the HF either and use my blue parrot headset for calls. I don't think you can Bluetooth from smartphone to headset and radio at the same time? I believe it is one device at a time?

I might just leave my phone bluetoothed to headset for calls and use my windows 8 laptop with air card that has apps bluetoothed to radio if I can fiqure out how to do that?

iPhones will link HF to a headset and music audio to a sound system at once. Android phones (what I'm using at the moment) are all or nothing, normally sticking with whatever is connected first. I've even tried disabling the HF profile in the phone while permitting the audio. It works, but the after the sound system hooks to music audio it gets stuck trying to connect the handsfree (versus acting like it isn't there if the phone is already linked to my headset). Not really an issue, just an annoying message scrolling across the sound system display. I didn't find a setting in the sound system to disable HF while permitting music.

Your laptop ought to connect to your sound system as expected. Just pair it in the same way as you would a headset.

So the single Bluetooth pairing is an Android issue...

Yes. I'm not sure if there's a limit beyond 2, but an Apple device will pair with multiple headsets at once and let you select which one inside an app, using the last used or first connected as default. I've only been able to connect one HF device of any type to my Android phone at a time. Only a minor nuisance when I get started without my headset on and the phone links to the sound system. Just have to turn the radio off long enough to turn on the headset and connect it. If I'm in a call I can switch to speaker during the switch and not drop the call.
