Is Linehaul any better? What’s the difference besides being paid by the mile instead of the hour?

Depending on length of run, you’d probably make more doing mileage vs P&D.

At least that was my experience.

I know Saia runs only 53’s and 48’s. Dumb question here but, how is it possible to do a residential delivery with such an animal?

They run single pups along with 48s and 53s in their city operation.
Oh and flatbed in some places.

I'm running a 48’ lift gate trailer, which most of my residential deliveries are done on the street.
I also call ahead and look at the address on Google Earth to see if alternative arrangements need to be made.

If it’s in the city where the bulk of my route goes, most people will have me do a street side unload or meet at the local supermarket or truck stop to get there stuff.

How’s the health insurance? My wife had a kidney transplant 5 years ago and she takes anti rejection meds; very expensive. So much so, they are considered “specialty” drugs and usually go through a specialty pharmacy, definately not on the average prescription plan. Does the United healthcare offered by Saia provide for specialty meds? I have tried asking the Saia HR department and of course, they refuse to provide any specific medical insurance information until I’m actually hired. Ridiculous; what if I’m hired, go through all the training, forego any other possible job offers from other companies that might have better insurance plans, only to discover that the health plan offered doesn’t work for me? It would definately be a no go.

Anyway, anybody know a bit about the medical plans?
