    Actually while true for Android it's not true for Mac.
    OSX is based off NeXT from Apple, which is based off the Mach kernel which is simply yet another Unix kernel. Linux is simply yet another Unix kernel also.
    Kind like Ford makes cars and Dodge makes cars and they can both use the same roads, but neither is based off the other.
