I did try searching so if this post is redundant I do apologize. I heard from my current employer today that they got a call from Crete to "check me out". This is very good news as I only submitted the online appication yesterday afternno, but I have a few concerns/questions.

    1) I am a little put out that they would already be contacting my refs, past employers, etc without so much as acknowledging the receipt of my application...I guess it is a minor detail but it would have been good to have some warning I guess, because I hadn't said anything where I work presently...yet...well cat's out of the bag on that one...LOL

    2) This is the BIG one, I have a felony conviction from 1994 that I did not disclose on the application, as the application that I completed specifically states "have you been convicted, pled guilty, no lo contendre, etc, within the 10 Years preceeding this application". My question is that is 10 years actually 10 years with these guys or when then run my info and find my conviction will they disqualify me? I answered the question honestly since my conviction is OLDER than 10 years...but this has bit me in the but before.

I guess the reason I ask and am so nervous about this...this story os a little embarassing, but bears telling since it relates to my question/dilemna is that I recently applied here in ILL to work with Pepsi (a position for which I am ABUNDANTLY qualified from past work experinece with beverage route sales) and their application VERY CLEARLY asks "have you been convicted or pled guilty to any crime during the last 7 (seven) years" and I marked "no" and then was VERY rudely kicked out of orientation by some "HR Staff Member" whom I had no previous interaction with during the lengthy application and interview process, and the two very aggressive and disrespectful rent-a-cops he felt he had to bring along to get rid of the "big/bad/felon" who using his words "lied on the application". When I asked him what he meant by "lied on the application", he said he "didn't need to discuss it with me" and handed me an envelope with the report they had and the company that ran the check and their info and then said "now look, I do not want any problems, everything you need is in there" and when I started to (calmly) speak up and protest that I hadn't lied, that the application states 7 years and my conviction occured in 1994 so how did I lie...he simply (very dismissively) told me: "LOOK...I am not getting into this with you..." and then left leaving me with the two rent-a-clowns...at this point I was seething...and not wanting to go to jail or "tussle" with these two idiots I just walked out (at their direction) with my held held high and very politely said "thank you, take care" to the reception lady and that was basically the end of it or so I thought...I stood on the Pepsi sidewalk for literally 3-5 seconds while fumbling for my keys in my pocket and taking a deep breath until the two rent-a-pricks advanced on me on the sidewalk saying "let's go s***head" time to leave" now we were still on the "pepsi sidewalk" leading to the city sidewalk (parking is street parking there) at which point I turned to them and said look guys, "I REALLY don't want to do this with you two...but IF you follow me off pepsi's property we're gonna have a big F'in problem" they abruptly stoppped and looked at each other and I said "that's my car over there" as I hit the key fob unlocking the doors (makes the hazards flash once) "I'm getting in it and I'm leaving, so don't push me...you're not going to like the outcome" the larger guy "looked at me and said get the F*** out of here" and advanced on me as the other guy grabbed him by the arm and said "his name (which I forget I think Tom) come on man" and started tugging at him, to which point I stooped to their level and said "f*** me...oh no...how about f*** you bud...HOPE I never catch you on a level palying field you f'in rent-a-nazi"...well with that he sook off the smaller guy and took a really aggressive stance and started at me like he was going to close the gap and attack me...at which point I dropped my things (portfolio, pen, etc) and took a step back and assumed a defensive stance (I have been involved in MMA for about 6 years) and simply said "what?" and he and the other rent-a-moron grabbed him by the arm again and tugged him away and they went off on ther way basically mumbling vulgarities in my general direction...not sure how they know so much about my wife/family/or my sexual orientation, but their comments were awful familiar...LOL...Now I had no intention of fighting this idiot, just defending myself and this is NOT my general behavior, but I was sooo aggrivated and finally just snapped when after being nothing but nice and polite to all involved even when objecting to what was wrong on THIER part they kept getting more rude and abusive towards me.

So bottom line, how do I address this issue with Crete so they do not disqualify me..since I think I would REALLY like to work for them...Is this going to be an issue even though the conviction is older than what they ask for?

Sorry so long winded...needed to get all this anxiety out...thanks.

I'm not sure what to tell you on that, other than to be honest with them. Call a recruiter for instance, and discuss it with them. Tell them you forgot to put that on, or weren't sure whether to put it on or not because it was past the 10 years they'd asked for. I'd do it before you ever got to the orientation stage. Just don't let them find out from somewhere else, and that might help you out. Mind you I said might. I don't know what the original charge was for, or how they think of those things at corporate, but ya gotta be honest. Best of luck!

If an application requests information for only the past 10 years, then you do not have to submit anything past what is requested. I work for Crete Carriers and when they say that they are only looking no farther that the past 10 years, than this is what they're looking for... nothing more!

You are not lying on an application by filling out exactly what they are asking for.

That speaks EXACTLY to my point, they ASK or tell you that it is for a certain time period, and my assumption is to answer honestly and say no as in my case it is over 7 or ten years that they are asking about, but then later if/when they get a hit from the circuit clerks office when they do the records search they disqualify my butt anyway. I was hoping maybe somebody had gone with them prior who had a similar situation and could shed some light on the fact that with Crete and they way they view this issue is if "10 Years" really means "10 Years"?

As said, I wouldnt worry about it. Have you ran a background check on yourself? That would be a wise moe if youre unsure or curious as to whats on your record.
Im about to hopefully be hired with them. I have the orientation stuff to go through, then out with the trainer. Any idea why their training is so long? 8 weeks is what I was told.
    Good luck!
