Anyone doing linehaul for UPS out of Knoxville?

If they are vague with details id be leary as its almost time to ramp up the seasonal hiring.

 

If the hub is close to a truck stop id linger around and ask a driver. Bumping in the hub to load trailers generally requires making it through probation. Another factor is sleeper teams if they run any out of that terminal.

Being at the bottom of the board isnt fun. We had a driver quit here a few weeks ago and another one starve without work for a few weeks.

As @LtlAnonymous said you will have to trim the fat in the budget. Timing is everything in this position. People retiring helps shoot up the board as well. Ask if they cover extended centers for vacation as well. We have some drivers currently covering vacations out of town. Hotel and travel expenses mostly taken care of.

Ill second it is definitely worth it for the minimal headaches. Im 9 months away from top rate been through two surgeries, bought a house, adopted a dog, built a fence and made other luxury purchases all through covid. Volume seems to be slowing up so not sure what will come in a few months as bid season is around the corner.

This wouldnt have been possible if we didnt ramp up the sleeper teams and had quite a few people retire over the past couple years among other variables.

Side note there have been some drivers who went for unemployment through the slow periods. I didnt care to but financially could handle the dry spells.
