Alan,
I would lease to SNI or Landstar before GW. That is my opinion based on what I have reading on here. Pay is better at Landstar and SNI.

GW is engaged in many talks ATM, including renewing their Wal-Mart DC contracts in Texas, as well as picking up two additional DC's. Not sure where it is going, but our TM isn't worried about our terminal as our service levels have been outstanding over the last two years.
I'm not sure what is going on over at AWG as I do not know any drivers who are over there.
Look at your contract and figure out what your needs are, if your willing to work and can control your own costs (ie. know how to run your business) then you can do well at GW. It all comes down to good personal business management. -

I am currently out of the same dc he is.. That may be the fleet avg I know right now we have 140 trucks and had 65 loads yesterday do the math. My check so far this week will have been about $500 and that is with 1 day I am guaranteed to work.. That is also doing what I am told to do as greatwide is now a suedo force dispatch. There are guys that haven't gotten out since black friday and they are having issues..(some of these guys are the hardest workers greatwide has they just aren't getting called)... As for the contract supposedly they got Texas (not the 2 others he was rambling about) for 3 years.. But it is just a letter of intent from what an old timer said last night nothing in stone. If I were going to buy a truck I would not lease it to Greatwide right now with a payment.
I guess 1600 may be the fleet avg.. but there are 10 dedicated everyday that will get their load before you get one and 3 company drivers that will come in and run 12 hours straight and get called before you.. I know of 6 drivers yesterday alone that got called to come work and only got 1 load of 75 miles or less. 1 day like that a week will kill you.. If you go with greatwide good luck I hope it works out but its not the roses and lollipops Mike laidout.Alanp613 Thanks this. -
I agree though with WoT things are not perfect ATM. Though if you can hack it (and helps if you don't have a truck payment) then GW is ok. Otherwise look at other options.
