I'm in my mid-40's. My employer of 17+ years is paying to send me to school. I'm done with the "classroom" online stuff and got my medical card yesterday. Plan to go for my permit early next week.
Anyone else go for their CDL later in life?
Anyone else a late bloomer, 40 and above just getting into driving?

I was 55, so you are not that late in life.

I'm was older than you when I started. Older people have better discipline, dedication and ability to see the job through. When I was younger I was too wild and would not have been able to handle it.

I got my EMT when I was 17. This process reminds me of that, only this time, I'm way more disciplined in how I am handling the stress.

Lots of drivers, some on this forum, started trucking school and new career in their 60's, 70's, 80's.

Will you be obligated to work for your current employer after acquiring a CDL?

Shoot you're still in your prime years for trucking. I'm 41 but I did get started at 25. Lol. Met a guy near Erie, PA that was 70 and in his first year with Stevens Transport.
