Anyone else a late bloomer, 40 and above just getting into driving?

It isn't just trucking, from what I have read, that advertise job listings for non-existent jobs. -
I got my CDL at 27 (1984). I had driven farm truck since I was tall enough to reach the clutch (about 1965 I think), and army trucks for 3+ years, so I didnt go in completely cold. That being said, I was a CDL instructor for a few years (I had to look at my resume for the dates, it was 09-12) and by far most of my students were late 40s through early 60s... It wasnt even close. (I had one guy over 70).

Not me but many drivers in my area were “vintage” and usually sourced when a large factory closed…the employees had the option of paid education,,some opted for truck school. So sourcing mature people who had many years of driving is perfect source for truck drivers IMO
