This is the second time this has happened to me and I really do not understand... I received all of the info I needed to pickup a load, everything was there except there was no pickup time. I had plenty of hours to get there and get loaded. However they said the CSR is gone for the weekend so that means I have to wait at a truck stop until Monday so they can give me a time. The last time this happened was my first experience with this problem and I arrived at the shipper at 7AM, told there was no appt time so I had to sit for a few hours, then they told me the time was confirmed for 10PM so I waited at the shipper for 15 hours before I could get loaded.
It was only me and another driver there, only two trucks and they told that driver the same thing so we just waited there all day staring at empty bay doors until they said we could pull in. So I do not understand why if all of the info is there accept the actual time on the day why I cannot do anything? I would understand if the dates were not available but the time? Who cares if it is anywhere between 0:00 and 23:59 as long as I get it there the same day? It is worth me waiting for two and a half days now until they can make up a time? I already had a 34 hour restart the other day now I have to take another.
Anyone else get all info except times and have to wait?

what kind of a place is it?
Is it manufacturing? Warehouse? I have sat on a dock for 6 hours waiting for product to come into the warehouse to make up my load. They were waiting for a truckload of "product X" so that they could put a pallet of it onto my truck with an alphabet of other products.
If it's manufacturing, it might be that their process is such that they have to MAKE the product to go out that night during the day shift.
It may be that the shippers (the ones on the actual dock) aren't there until 10 PM.
Lots of variables there. -
I have had "open pick up times", which means, GET THERE. This is usually a 24 hour operational warehouse. I just go, and if there is a rest area or truck stop nearby and if I am NOT able to make a pick up?? I go to the truck stop/rest area.

It is a warehouse. Yes it makes sense if they are waiting for a product, but they are only delaying me until they can confirm an appointment time. Weird I am asking my fellow co workers about this and no one knows and never had this happened to them and this happened to me twice this month already.
It makes no sense. Basically they are just saying I have to wait until they can get a time in writing then I can continue. I am not complaining as I have everything I need and watching TV shows and movies online. I just want to understand the logic of me having to sit for nearly three days just so they can put a time on a sheet of paper even though the day is the same. -
so go talk to the shippers on Monday morning.....
I have shown up more than once and they have taken me in early. -
Yeah I show up early on just about every load just in case I run out of hours or fall asleep I am already in the door. However the first time there was no pickup time is when they had me wait 15 hours due to no time to load even though they were not busy. They were just waiting like me until a time update came in. I receive all of my loads through Qualcomm and they always have pick up times but this load and the other one had all zeros for pickup time and that was when I was rejected.

that's where the "people skills" of driving a truck come into play.
I have had a lady tell me to drop my trailer and come back in 8 hours. I simply went out to the truck, waited about 15-20 minutes, come back in and tell her I am being told it's a "live unload".
She goes back to her screen and says "oh, you're right". -
I understand your frustration nash.Sounds like this shipper requires an appt time and sounds like your company should have been on top of this before even giving you this load. You need to talk to your company and ask them wheres the appt time. This isn't fair to you to have to sit. Also request some compensation for having to sit.
NewNashGuy Thanks this. -
Nothing tried, nothing gained. -
Yeah my manager gave me detention pay last time (well, had to remind her but still) so I am sure I will get it this time. I am basically trying to find out why I cannot get the load if there is no time but the date is there. It doesn't make sense to me but oh well
