I recently bought a complete radiator from detroit radiator for my 98 freightliner. I have bought one from them in the past and it seemed ok but this one I got about three weeks ago really seems to be a piece of junk. Almost started leaking on me right off the bat. Anyone else notice a recent decline in quality from them?
Anyone else having problems with detroit radiator

The one I got a month ago 500 miles into it. Started leaking. Pulled it and patched it got it back in started leaking from another spot. Pulled it and patched again. So far so good.

thanks to both of you for reporting your experience.

I bought one for a 1999 Volvo with n14 about 3 months ago and it seems solid. In the hottest months pulling 45k in dry van throughout the Southeast and no problems. knocking on wood.

Got one from Detroit radiator and it was about 2 months old and had a few tube to header leaks. After getting the runaround from them they shipped out a replacement. The replacement lasted about a week and it looked like it had been used when i got it!! NEVER DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS DETROIT RADIATOR AGAIN! Horrible experience!!

where did you order from ? I was thinking of upgrading my stock & since there is a dealer just 15 miles from me, it would be easy to drive there & pick one up, but now I am not so sure. always heard good comments about them until now.

Thankful I found this on here. I bought a radiator from Detroit Radiator Corp about a year and half ago and have always had problems with it. Header leaks have been the major problem with my unit. I got it repaired a couple of times. Has cost me thousands in down time and lost work. Most owner operators with one truck they treat like crap. (also heard this from other O/O's) If you run 5 or 6 trucks than they seem to care about you.

Just found this on the internet too!!
What's up with Detroit Radiator charge air coolers??
Just tested my CAC,because i had a gut feeling that it might be leaking and because i have NO faith in them to start with and lo and behold....it's leaking!! It was installed April of 2010 under warranty because the previous one leaked after 17 months!!! What gives? Anyone use any that last 5 years or more,or is that just a fantasy? They will be sending me ANOTHER CAC, and I will be sending them a nastygram! Oh, and Happy Holidays all! -
I think if you pressure test any CAC after 2 years you'll be able to find some leaks. Even duralite, pay big money for it and they will also leak after a short time.
