things have gotten allot better the last couple of weeks. last week i grossed $920, this week will be a little more maybe $975 gross. hopefully things will continue on their present course because im much happier with it right now. i have been hauling ALLOT of stone for a very large construction project. they say i will be hauling it for a couple of months everyday during the week. im getting more seat time then every before and my shifting and driving is improving. did a millings job early last week too.

as far as OTR, no amount of money any of the megas are willing to pay is worth it.

i am discovering that its very common for guys with a class A to drive dump truck. in fact out of all of the drivers in dump trucks i have met probably more then 3/4 of them have class A licenses. most common thing most guys say is that they are unwilling to deal with the OTR lifestyle.

i think about all of the things i enjoy having a local job. going in the pool, seeing my family, fixing things around the house, FULL weekends off (not just BS 34 hour resets at home), sleeping in my own bed, showing at home, the security of being at home at night and not some strange place, not paying for coin op laundry, eating what i want when i want, having regular access to my own personal car and the freedom to go where i want when im off duty.

i have been working 5 10-12 hour shifts per week which is exactly what i want.

i cant think of a whole host of reasons to NOT drive OTR. i cant think of one reason WHY i would want that. today i met someone with a different company. we were on the same route today. he said he worked for TMC. i asked, how long did you do that. 1 month he said. he said he has no interest in living away from home. i feel exactly the same.

I may be OTR but I can say one thing...

While I'm not a big fan of the RAIN. It pretty much doesn't keep me from working. ;)

we have had a massive, excessive amount of rain. roads have been washed away in areas. yards flooded, property damage, and yesterday 3 tornadoes touched down. yesterday even with the weather i got 8 hours of work in, if the weather was better i would have had a 12 hour shift.

i could haul milk and only make $150 per day regardless of how many hours i work. that would be 6 days a week likely 12 hour shifts.

frankly IF they can keep me going what im doing right now is not awful.
