Yes of course because you're running less than 1/3 the mileage. However, for those leased onto Bigger Carriers that give fuel discounts of 70% it not much better really. I think for the short term local is great but in a few months I'm just wondering if it will uphold it self?
Anyone else seeing a slow down at their company

I haul engine parts for an auto manufacturer. Earlier this week, my return trailer had no empties on it. I asked both my pickups if that meant a slow down for assembly. Both said no. The very next day, my Monday load of parts was cancelled by the manufacturer, which affects those two component manufacturers and myself. Thankfully, I’ve been switched to another manufacturer contract, to start my next week.

Our local/regional guys are cleaning up, LCV are making a freaking MINT! OTR is brutal unless you want 8-10 drops/picks in the US. FTL is dead, so instead of 2 FTLs a week, our city guys are going to some customers 5 times a week now. Constantly building trailers on the dock, and LCVs are running them pin to pin, local guys in those city’s deliver all day and night.
FedEx, UPS, XPO figured this out along time ago. As much as I hate LTL personally, it’s keeping us busier than ever.Another Canadian driver, upnorthwpg and ducnut Thank this. -
True, I also have an opportunity to make a move with a Local freight Broker for loads in Ontario only allegedly $5000/week. However, I need to figure out whether or not its a good move for Longevity or momentary? No one knows the future however a educated guess towards the local loads next year is whats needed. If things drop dramatically, those caking it locally will have to make sure they banked 90% of that local money so if it goes dead locally next year their surviving on 45% to 50% of it.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
