No, I'm not going there, but I notice that others that have kinda disappear from the planet, never to be heard from again. I'm not sure if they fall into a deep dark hole or go with a trainer that kidnaps them and turns them into a zombie and drops them into a bottomless mine shaft in the desert of New Mexico. Even newbies that say they'll keep everyone up-dated, never do! :druid:

Gosh I hate the old mine shaft trick.......Allow Me you know whats happening.., I know Millis is not a bad company, but this old world of trucking just ain't for everybody. I would suspect they have a high percentage that never make it pass a few weeks on their own. That would have to be the fact.....as I see so many new drivers going to them, and they aint got that many trucks....ya know what I mean?
To be honest I dont think these companies are giving many breaks after training...either they make it or they dont. Sometimes all it take is an all night driving adventure in bad weather.

yeah i know what ya mean.. I'll try to keep everyone updated, but I can't promise anything. I know there is a huge turn over rate in the trucking industry as well. I drove for a local grain company in the past, just not OTR so I know things will be different. Just have to wait and see what happens i guess. I've heard Millis is a great place to start though, so If I'm going to make it, I guess I've chosen the right place :)

Looks like a good place to apply to. I was just looking at their site and they are hiring in my area. I think a week before I graduate I will give them a call and apply.

How long did it take you to hear anything back from Millis? I put an online application in a week ago and have still not heard anything.

This information is probably irrevallent by now, but I will offer it anyway.
I drove for Millis breifly in 1992. Pay and equipment was excellent(new KW T600 Aerocabs).
My only gripe was the promised home time never materialized. At the time they promised every 7-10 days, which never happened.
I worked out of Knennesaw GA, which I think has been replaced by Cartersville.
They would keep me up on I-80 & I-90 running between NY & WI and strand northern guys down south.
When I finally got a southern load(way beyond my promised 10 days out) I usually had just enough time to pass through home on the way to deliver and next thing I know it's back to WI.
I realize that has been a long time ago and hopefully they have improved in that regard.

I used to work for them and left them about 2 years ago. I'll warn the new hires/trainees right now. They have no open trucks and yet they keep pushing students thru their school. Then they send them home to make them wait for a trainer. I'm sorry but that is completely unfair in my book. How is a guy supposed to make any money? I know, before anyone answers, the company doesn't care if you make money, but still it's not right in my opinion.
