I USED to be a big fan of Copper...NO more. Horrible service and a lot of "bait and switch". Good luck getting them on the phone too. You place an order and never heard from them. As far as Radioactiveradios...Back in the day (like just a few years ago) they were good..But now, it's just a hack job. I bought a Galaxy 99V from him and it was an utter disappointment. To get my new radio running, I had to spend over $200 at a local tech...The "wack pack" is just a "cut and hack job".

Just about...eBay just plain sucks anymore...it used to be a big swap meet where you could get good used stuff for less...now it's just a big place for businesses to advertise their products.

I will admit I bought my first ham radio off eBay for a little less than what it costs new.

I bought my last rdio from GI Joe's and haven't had any problem with it... Galaxy DM45XP never got it "peaked or tuned" converted it myself since it's only a move the plug from one way to another

I k ow this is an old thread...BUT, i bought a galaxy 94hp from walcott tb, had them convert and align it...i told them I didnt want any turning of pots, or hacking it up..convert and that is it. Cleanest loudest radio I have heard in a long time, people thought I was running a 99v with a kicker. For you big cb guys, think Rocksteady from down here in Texas...super loud and crystal clear. Put 165 watts on a bird meter, loved it. Just sold it, and am looking at gi joe's for the galaxy dx33hp2 for my pickup when on road trips or whatever. I wanna keep it on a quick plug and play and not have to get into wiring to my batteries etc.

His price is under $200, never bought anything from him...is his conversion work worth a ####? Or am I better off using someone else? I prefer one stop shopping.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Highway...Like I said earlier in this old thread, I have bought several radios, Mic's, and other stuff from GI Joe's and haven't been disappointed yet with their service or tuning...

Another shop which may actually be better at tuning and also super-fast shipping is Doug at "Custom CB Radio"...His prices are reasonable, but may or may-not be as low as GI Joe's...

Last two radios I have bought both came from Custom CB Radio, and when I decide I want another one, I'll be going back to Custom CB Radio...

Nothing wrong IMO with GI Joe's, but I feel Doug at Custom CB is a little more up-front with his customers on what you can expect to see out of whatever radio your buying...And if your not sure what radio you want, he is more than willing to help you decide on one, based on what your looking for.

If you do not know how to open a radio and then do the 11 meter conversion, then for you yes it would be worth it for you to pay extra to have it done. However if you can solder and can follow directions, cbtricks.com has all the info on how to convert most exports for 11 meter CB use.
