Except you can't sleep in it, you have no room for your things, and if your work takes a turn that's unexpected, as several people have said as we all know how this business is, the day cab is then not your friend and it's a giant investment that you're going to sit there and look at and say what the hell did I do?

And unless you want to work for bottom of the barrel container companies, there's no one that's going to lease on a day cab.

Yes that's severely limits your options of everything.

If you can secure your own work from home to a major city nearby, probably night shift, it could work out for you.
Although after the first snowstorm that closes the roads you’ll be wishing to at least have a coffin.

Daycab is a local truck. No need to pack anything in it. You go home every night.

It doesn't require a logging device. That's a very important as it won't break you trying to fix something that isn't there. My current rig was always in the shop till the peoplenet got pulled out. Now it works instead of repairs.

There are lotsa options with a daycab running locally. Containers isn't the only gig.

I haul construction. My last gig was tanker hauling food waste. Milk, oil, hazmat, etc.

A sleeper is nice if you don't mind hitting the road. But anything plugged in to the truck.

I tried a scangauge when I was otr.

Show me a log that won't cause problems. And maybe I'll agree on sleeper.

    Till then. NO THANKS.
Too many going broke fixing problems that aren't there.

Logging device is by year or number of days out not by sleeper, you can park 144” large house in the door yard every night and not need an elog.

on the other end you still need a eld in a daycab if you are outside 150 miles more then 8 days a month…

if you’re going to run outlaw and “I haven’t been away from home more then 8 days this month” the bunk/pannel won’t matter anyways

Never heard of the 8 allowed days per month. They just switched me to elog for local work. The justification is the occasional trip over 150 miles. Been using Samsara for pre trip/post trip records only. As of today it’s “activated”. Doesn’t matter to me. I’d like to take longer trips. Im paid hourly. No problem taking a 10 hr. break, unpaid, then finish my trip. Not enough local work available right now.

Before all the Trucks were unibilt, Old OTR trucks could easily be converted to a day cab. Made for a larger resale market for old OTR Trucks. I imagine it wouldn’t be hard to add a sleeper to any newer Truck. As long as the WB was long enough. This subject reminds me of 2000 when Freightliner started converting repossessed OTR trucks into day cabs. They turned big condo sleepers into mid roof daycab. Sold them as factory refurbished. Only way to get rid of them. I prefer a sleeper. Took 2 naps yesterday before noon. Lol. Any truck purchase should be matched for the job. Less flexibility with the unibilt sleeper trucks. They can’t easily be converted to day cabs, resulting in a limited resale market. They’re worthless.
