I have a 4 axle Talbert. If you knock the 4th axle off it would throw less weight forward. It would lower your gross by 3k, but you’d still be pushing 50 on the drives unless you could load the steers.

You could toss a strap over the hoses and probably get down to 14-5

even lower if you were willing to block under the tracks. Might run into issues with the neck tho

I thought about the strap and have done that before, but when I measured it, I was up on top of the boom and grandson was holding tape against the floor.

I’m about 250 but couldn’t get them to really flex so I just went with it…..

same instructions you get for I-440 in Little Rock - like 5 lanes wide (5mph no other traffic)

Ohio will assign police (you pay 4 hour minimum ) for one bridge - and they throw in a free inspection and dimension verification….

It's good to see you got it figured out Jim!

Just for comparison, this hoe weighs about 92k as pictured without counterweight and bucket. The counterweight weighs 19k, and the bucket weighs 5600 according to the book. My tare is 41000ish, trailer is 50 ton, 60" axle spacings, and 21' well. I air the tag up to 80 psi, and that gives me about 11k on it.

As pictured, I will be around:
    Steer 12300
    Tag 11000
    Drives 46200
    Trailer 63500
Height is a touch less than 14

My small tag tires are only rated to about 11000 or I would slide it two more notches forward and still be around 12k on the steers.

Like @Jubal Early Times mentioned, it would sure help if you could get your fifth wheel farther forward. You certainly have the room with that neck, but I'm guessing your slider doesn't go any farther forward.

The balance changes a lot without the counterweight obviously, but it would sure be nice if you could turn it the other way and get the height down. It would be interesting to see where you are without that 4th axle.

That neck is 108” swing. It’s good for 15,000 on the steer and 20 on the pusher. This is a 100,000 pound machine. I need a longer neck myself.

Yeah, I don't have enough trailer to haul ours fully dressed, but we are pretty proficient at dropping the CW now.

It's a balancing act building a heavy spec truck/trailer, but adding tare weight. In Jim's case he's already in superload territory with these loads so building a heavier tractor probably doesn't make permitting any more difficult.

We are fortunate with our annual in Idaho. With this outfit I can go to 153k on black routes (interstate) and 139k on purple routes (better US highways with no bridge issues). The per mile cost gets pretty steep near max weight though.

My 5th wheel has never been moved and needs freed up, something I’m working on.

I think I may scale it without the 4th axle on the trailer, but I need to move that 5th wheel.

When I delivered yesterday my customer said he had a 349 “bare” setting in Louisina, ask if i thought I could scale it. Looking at your 345 not sure I’d try it…..

My setup is a little heavier than I’d like (53,600). But it takes a lot of metal to move a lot of metal. Or at least to do it and last. I’m honestly not sure how the lightweight pusher is going to work on the east coast. Most states here want only give you a 20% variance between it and the other axles in the group.
