Lease purchase is often a mistake unless the lease driver has experience running a buisiness before. In most Lease Purchase contracts the driver obligated to pay truck expenses but the trucking cokpany IS NOT obligated to provide enough miles to earn the amount of money necessary to pay those expenses.

Generally speaking, avoid working/doing business with family at all cost’s, especially if ‘bidding’ and ‘seniority’ are in the equation. The chance of the family relationship going ‘sideways’ are too great.

So, just to update. He got in the truck Monday and has hauled one load. His second load, he got to the shipper but they didn't know anything about the load, so his dispatcher found him another load but he's deadheading 6 hours to pick it up. Is it routine for the company to not have a lease-purchase agreement that is signed? He never filled out an application, never saw the lease details. His payment is $600 a week and his boss told him it would be paid off in 3 years, same thing he told his cousin who also recently started with the same company. I am seeing red flags everywhere, especially when his boss is "forgetful" about things he told him. His boss told him he'd never be deadheaded more than 700 miles. He's already done that his first week. His boss said he'd be able to find his loads. Not true. His boss said after a couple months he'd get him a manual truck and now he says that's not going to happen. He doesn't have an actual physical location and we are pretty sure the dispatcher lives in Romania and works remotely.

How often is he planned to do the Blytheville-Midland-Blytheville, per week?

That's why, one reads, and understands the contract, AND has their attorney look it over for them. Before driving .2 miles for them. Now, it's all hearsay, nothing in writing. They could say "contract says $1000 a week, fuel where we tell you, etc.

So if there isn't any contract at all it's a really bad company? I've been looking for other places that does LP and flatbed but so far I haven't found any that anyone says is a decent place.

He normally got 2 or 3 loads per week, but with getting 3 loads, one entire load went to taxes so it wasn't really helping us any. He was getting tired of the same run week after week.
