Hi there! Was wondering if anyone has ever left s drilling rig in order to go truck driving. Oilfield is awsome money and the days off are nice but with truck driving I have noticed you can land some pretty good paying jobs as well and be home more often. Plus when hot shot comes back up you can make the same if not more then out here and still be home more. And the good thing is when hot shot goes down you can go back to driving a big rig. I am currently thinking about making the switch while the oilfield is down so I can put in my time to earn a dedicated job around Houston area one day. Let me know if anyone else has ever done this! Little nervous but I feel confident in my ability to succeed just need some positive reinforcement. Also if anyone else has left a good paying job to do this let me know the good the bad the ugly and where you are now and if it was worth it to get where you are now! It intrigues me to be my own boss and to be able to haul stuff everyday which is what I love doing anyhow. Thanks so much!!

I didn't make the switch by choice. I was laid off last November. The money, so far, is not better than the oilfield. And I'm home for about 4-5 days a month. Not better home time. Maybe this will change with a little more time under my belt.
I'm running over the road right now. Would be better if there was a regional gig I could land.
    Good luck man.

Thanks for the fast reply man. What did you do in the oilfield of ya don't mind me asking?
Yeah over the road is terrible for home time. I plan on going to a school and some companies use that as experience and can get me home every weekend. I have found some companies for tankers paying about 60k to start out. I know the first little bit will not be good for home time but I was hoping to get into a hot shot with a dually when the oilfield comes back. A few friends of mine make really good money doing that with great home time. Keep on lookin for regional and dedicated brother! I'll keep ya in my prayers for sure.
