i'm delivering in oak harbor in the morning. and heading west to poulsbo, it's either take the ferry. or make the 176 miles AROUND the bottom of seattle area and back up the other side.
anyone know the cost of the ferry. from what i see of the chart schedule. looks like $104.20. but then i see another section pertaining to height. to which i'm over the 7.6 feet. and that's another $167.
our agent told me $106. but that's a pretty hefty add on. if height needs to be added into the price.
so, anyone know the cost???
coupeville to port townsend is the one i'll be taking.
trying to figure out either a 3 hour drive or a 15 mile ferry ride. cost wise and time wise.
anyone ever taken a ferry in seattle.

I am not sure what time you are planning on taking the ferry, but sometimes you have to wait a couple of sailings to get on the boat. Also that ferry cancels sometimes due to low tides. Did you look at the WA DOT website for cost?
I found this. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/fares/FaresDetail.aspx?departingterm=17&arrivingterm=11 -
iv taken the ferry across going to port angles. a few times, it was a number of years ago but i figured it was cheaper than driving all the way around plus i could sit back and relax

I did the Seattle to Port Angeles ferry last year and it was by the foot if I remember correctly. I was hauling a pup trailer and came in at 49' so I hit the 50' price which was right around $100 if i remember correctly. On the ferry they did direct and hold the traffic around me to give me plenty of room to maneuver in and out.
It was a crap shoot on time savings with having to wait to load up vs traffic, but it was fun and defiantly worth doing of you are not in a hurry.
They will pack ya in tight!

You could go the even longer way and take in Aberdeen, Amanda Park, Forks (where they filmed Twilight) and up and around to Oak Harbor and Port Angeles.....only another 108 miles!!!
