Anyone feel the effects of oil/gas yet? (Alberta, BC, Sask.)

Just hanging in there. If you aren't established here out west, don't bother for now. Every company has tons of iron piled up against the fence. I've contemplated going south again to work for pennies a mile until things turn, but as luck has it I'm getting enough hours to survive. Plant shutdown and turnaround season is coming, I figure I'll take a quick vacation and hopefully we will be back in the black next month.

 

Things are slow in the west. Ritchie Bros. are holding the first ever 4 day auction in Canada next week days ago they already had over 8000 items.

 

Things are super slow lots of plant turnarounds one of the plant I unload at is shut down for a month and next month one of the loading plants is shut down for 2 weeks and I hear that everyone is selling while they can to pay off everything from the slow season at Richie bros

 

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Auctions at RB usually mean that I'll (hopefully) be hauling the equipment sold to the coast. It's been pretty slow for the lowbed industry in BC, so I've been feeling the effects from the oil and gas industry too...

 

Haven't hauled a load of pipe out of the docks for over a month now.... not cool....

I'm glad somebody is prospering. As for me I'm done, got my walking papers.
The time has come for me and my wife to pack up the uhaul and head south. I'm going back to school in September.

 

I got laid off for the 3rd time. husky logistics took my one run...... pretty sure 2 trucks are making the same monthly net income as 1 was this time last year and doing it working rediculous hours!
