Don’t know about gliders but I had a 1996 Kenworth W900 set up real nice with a new paint job and everything. Looked really good and was a detroit series 60, awesome truck.

A car merged into me at about 5 mph. Scratched the fender and dented the bumper.

Progressive agent who drove to me weeks later to inspect the damage for a quote said even at $5k they might consider my truck a total loss.

Now on my insurance they let me state the full value of whatever I want it to be and of course I pay the premium to match it with this 1999 peterbilt I drive now.

    Big Road Skateboard Thanks this.

If your buying a truck and basing your decisions on resale, your doing it wrong. Now, ACV is different and will change based on the market, and it will NEVER benefit the owner. I bought an 07 Pete 387, for $40k, it needed work and the owner was up against the wall. It was a loaded owner op spec truck. Very nice interior. I got the needed repairs done, vva's, rebuilt the APU, 10 new tires, 2 new seats, skirts repainted. I was still under the value of what lots were selling same year higher mileage Werner trucks for but when it burnt they paid me $32k. Said that's ACV too bad so sad.
You unfortunately have to prepare for this stuff. If you bought a brand new truck and it was wrote off or burned the next day, EXPECT to lose $20k plus.
Not right, but it's the way it goes.
As far as owning a glider, I do because I had 2 emission trucks, and swore NEVER AGAIN. I'd rather fix fix and fix again I truck that IS fixable. Price a turbo for a newer truck, and a 12.7 60 series. Or a water pump, or........
