There was a thread on here about Sheetz. May have outdated info though.

40 hours a week delivering to their stores. They don't like to pay over time. This is not the fuel side though.

I drive out of the main terminal in Altoona. I don"t know about other terminals but we have different schedules 3 on 2off,4 on 3 off,6 on 3 off 6 on 6 off. During the busy time of year you can work all the overtime you want, they will actually beg you to work it. Don"t know about the advanced training part as they just started that. good luck.

Hauling fuel is about as easy as it gets. Once you’re on the rack it’s pretty easy to get loaded in 10-15 minutes and be out the gate. Once you get a routine down that works for you, stick with it every single day.

According to their website, "petroleum transport driver" pay starts at $34.00 to $39.00, even for entry level. Sounds like a great place to work, I would jump on it.

Good luck hope it works for you. I worked at Kenan a long time ago they were just a fuel hauler then it was a very good job with not much turnover. I left b4 they merged or how ever they became affiliated with advantage so no idea what kind of company it is now.

Sheetz is a private carrier; KAG...on the other hand....is not.

Thus--everything I said above about delivering for a private fleet...generally would no longer apply.

Regardless--hauling fuel is great experience, and (I think) a great way to enter the tanker sector of the industry (if you haven't elsewhere, already). If you try it for a while and decide you don't like it, the experience you get there is widely respected elsewhere.

Also--as pointed out in post #14 above....fuel is "easy money"...once you get the hang of it. While other drivers who pull general freight wonder how freight volumes will hold up later for them--you, on the other hand, will much more than likely not even come close to running out of product to deliver...or the demand for it (at least, anywhere in the near future).

Suggestion: if you try fuel for a year or so, and decide you don't like it--DON'T LEAVE KAG!!! Instead--put in for a transfer to their "Merchant Gas" group. Your fuel hauling experience is a GREAT "set up" for that transition--and cryo duty is steady, easy, clean work....with an almost endless list of customers.

Keep us posted on how your fuel hauling experience goes. Everybody loves a good story with a happy ending. :headbang:

That's what I'll end up doing, eventually switching to gas / cryogenics.

KAG isn't a private fleet but they have 2 main positions near me. A dedicated account or the open board with a mix of companies. I'll be running for a dedicated account, so it'll feel similar to sheetz but it'll be their competitor.

Sheetz denied me quick with no explanation (even though I checked every box). Maybe they want someone who's stayed with the same company for 10 years straight idk
