Most of us can't modify a company truck, which was the situation I found myself in, so I did this... I posted a how-to write-up for anyone interested at the link below...

Hey fellas I'm doing a build right now! Here's wut I've learned from riding w a system for 8 years. 1.) You will wear out a head unit in a commercial vehicle. Invest in a spare and keep her in the box. To many hours you putting on it. The less moving parts the better. Vibration, man... 2.) Mount your amps where they can breathe. Heat and vibration are there worst enemy. I'm fashioning a hole in the floor in the bunk and plan on putting a "scoop" under the body to bring air to my hardware. It's all about getting mileage. 3.) Don't be scared to spend on decent connection hardware. Speakers and power wires tend to tear/wear out. Probably when ur comfortable and don't feel like trouble shooting where ur short is. Fact! 4.) Install your speakers to be replaced and experiment w brands. I use butter fly nuts and qtr 20s on my satellite speakers. This way, I blow a pair, I unscrew and drop in a new set. Easy! 5.) Don't run below 4 ohms on your woofer. Hard to do but your amp and subs generate heat!!!! Extend the life by getting the right gear (a 4 channel for 4 speakers and a two channel for 2). I'm normally too tired at the ta to bump, but I will play a movie, though. Best of luck. Hit me back for questions.
