What bothered me in particular with how he phrased it was, "The system will read the numbers posted on the speed limit sign. If you are going over, at all, it will send me a 10 second video clip from the dash cam and show me what happened." To me, there are so many things that can happen on the road that may require you to speed up to pass/avoid a road hazard. If the system sends a 10 second clip without the context of why you drove the way you did, there is no evidence in your defense to elaborate on your behavior behind the wheel. I suppose I would be more comfortable with the idea if it was 30-45 second segments rather than 10. This allows safety to get the whole story. 10 seconds sounds like just enough to incriminate you. I don't know, maybe I'm just paranoid.
Anyone have info on McKenzie Tank Lines?

Redcon.one, have you made up your mind in McKenzie? I'm also interested in them and I live in Athens, GA. Waiting on a follow up call. I talked to one of their gold team drivers in Charlotte the other day and he had nothing bad to say. Of course, he also gets a commission if I sign on so maybe I should keep that in mind. Anyway, I'm eager to hear your experiences if you've gone with them.

McKenzie just opened a terminal in Charlotte nc. I'm not sure where exactly it is. Or what they run out of it.
Like I said before, if you run the loads and claim everything on the paperwork you can make decent money and get decent home time. -
The terminal is at the quala wash , they set up an office till they find a real home .

I spoke to one of the McKenzie recruiters recently. Really liked what she had to say, with 2 exceptions.
1) Paid bi-weekly. I don't suppose it's a huge deal, but it would certainly take some getting use to and
2) McKenzie is self-insured for health insurance. She said they self-insure through TBR (Taylor Benefit Resource). Insurance is of the utmost importance to my wife and I and MTL being self-insured makes me nervous. Gotta admit, the cost of the insurance for driver and spouse isn't bad. It's about 43% of what I'm paying now.
Also, regarding insurance, they do not have supplemental insurance, like AFLAC. That is not a deal-breaker, because a person can pay AFLAC directly, but it is nice to have it done through payroll deduction.
I don't qualify for the Gold Team (minimum 6 months hauling chemicals and I have zero,) but after 6 months with McKenzie, I would be eligible. The pay per loaded mile is very good on the Gold Team, but I'm a little curious if they get the same empty mile pay as the regular MTL OTR drivers? Anyone know?
The starting pay per loaded mile (more than 349 miles/load) for their OTR is right at what I'm making now, but it goes up as you get time in service. The empty mile rate is not great, so hopefully you don't have much out-and-back.
I'm still very much up in the air about making a change. I think it would be an easier decision if I didn't have the longevity, seniority, and benefits I have with current company.
