I got my cdl in '10 without any schooling or company sponsored training of any sort.
I took my permit tests in town then rented a truck to take my driving test. Truck cost me $425.00
I went on the wheat harvest and drove truck, combine, and tractor. This was something I always wanted to do and regretted that I didn't do it during my teen years. Anyway.... then I came home and found a small local company to hire me on. I now dispatch myself, drive an awesome truck, make great money, and set my own schedule.
I was determined to drive truck but there was no way I was going to go the mega carrier forced march junk. No way.
Anyone here got their CDL and got hired on without school?
