Does anybody have any info on this comany?

How do they treat their drivers?. Am considering working for them after i finish school. They have ad in my local paper(baltimore sun) stating that drivers get weekends off. Does this apply to otr driver too? What kind of equipment do they run?

    thank you.

    KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!!!!!!!!

Bowman is based out of the east coast (Baltimore may be company home) though they run most of the area east of the Mississippi. They run vans, and I think some flats. They are a combination of daycabs doing local work, and in some cases they are a site operator, providing truck service like trailer spotting and yard work for companies. They also run sleeper tractors for longer haulage. Most of their equipment is Macks, either CH-600's or CX Visions for sleepers. Equipment look pretty decent, and they replace on a pretty regular schedule. I see them at some of the places I haul out of, where they are the plant contractor or in house hauler.

They are probably on a big safety push right now, checking logs and drivers pretty carefully. About 4-5 months ago there was a hit and run accident and the truck and driver turned out to be one of theirs. If that sort of thing happens, there is usually an after effect, just like their is with Crete right now.

Am basically looking for a company to start out with and get my first year experience. I live in baltimore and would hate to work for a company thats located on the side of the country. Money does not matter to me coz have saved up enough to stay without a paycheck for a while.
On the other hand i want to be home at least once a week to spend with my family.

What other good starter companies( close to baltimore) would you recomend. Am planning on hauling cars in the future possible for Bavarian motor transport

That one I can't answer because as you can see above, I am a Michigander. I see the Bowman stuff at places I go, particularly a popcorn plant near Fort Wayne In, and I have had some time there to talk to them.

best thing to do is keep a close eye on whose trucks are running around your area. You might find some of the companies out of PA run there a lot, pepple like Zimmerman for example. You are looking for someone who primarily runs that region, vice a national long distance hauler.
