I now have an RFX modded Black Chrome 29,its a smokin little radio for sure.
Need to do something with the lights, they are so freakin bright they light up the further'est reach's of the bunk
Wonder if some window tint film would work ?

I checked with some others and the shops all seem to want to
run the High/Low power off the dimmer switch instead of the CH9 switch.
Personally I cant stand all that bling when I'm driving at night,I see those nitro knobs and such in trucks that I pass and their ridiculous IMO.
I doubt the stock dimmer will be enough if I have it rewired,so the tint idea sounds like my only option.
Otherwise I'll find a spot on the shelf and let it collect dust with the many others Ive collected.

I haven't owned one, i was just impressed with a lifetime guarantee.
I'm not going to have a argument with you because we agree on to much and because neither one of us have even had one.
I saw Redd Fox in Vegas in the 80s and my stomach hurt for two days.
He had most of the people from the tv show there.
I'd like to tell ya some of the jokes he told but I'm sure you've heard most of them. -
so if not radio active who ?

Depends on what you want to invest and what your radio
use will be.
Some shops are better with certian radios then others(they ALL claim to be "golden screwdrivers") but there is
a clear difference between several out there.
The RFX modded Cobra/Unidens are BANGING very well for the buck.

STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!!
Unless you like the sound of a poorly tuned over modulated radio. I got a galaxy 95T from them last year.....just to see if all the things that i heard about them were true and it was. The radio was over modulated, limiter was cliped, dead key was set up wrong from high to low, driver bias was set wrong, radio was off freq on SSB and the receive was very weak. The only thing they did was peak out the power of the radio and did nothing else, even after telling them that i wanted the radio tuned from top to bottom and tuned to be clean for use on SSB they still did it the quick and easy way!
But since i...unlike a great many cb techs out there....know what im doing went back into the radio and retuned every thing it does a fine job.Its clean, on freq on SSB and can hear a rat fart 2 states away with out alot of white noise in the recive.
Now im sure that some here will not like this comment but if a person asks a question i will tell them the truth. It's your money but setting up a radio to be a truck stop hero ( loud and over modulated) is not the correct way to do it and thats how way way to many cb shops do it!
You do what you want psychocreep,i have no reson to lie to you. -
ok Carolina Thunder, where than? I have done as much research as can be and I am about ready to just start setting up my own radios. I bought a Cobra 29 a year ago and had it worked on by two different places, one in Monee, IL and the other in MI, by detroit. The guy in MI did the best job, I will not be returning to IL for anymore work on my radios. I heard a couple guys in the TS the other day, each had a Stryker radio, one had a 440 the other had a 490, they sounded awesome. Each said they were straight out of the box, well the 440 guy said he tuned the receive on his own but other then that it was stock. He also said he can get out 4 to 5 miles on average with no "white noise". If I turn my RF up too far all I get is noise. I pick up the power lines, the light in my truck,,,you name it. I am tired of it! I just want a good radio that will receive and transmit up to 5 miles on average. I hear people say they can do it all the time, so why can't I?
