KEEP ON TRUCKING old timer...It's all a bunch of B/S.The government will never be able to ''watch over'' every single operation truck...Don't believe all this non sence..

The only people that say this crap are the people who are on them and they hate them.So they want to ''stir the pot'' and get everyone uptight to enjoy there misery...

The only ones ''mandating'' these e babysitters are PARANOID COMPANY OWNERS in fear that DOT will come knocking and charge them thousands in fines...

This is not about SAFETY,it is about LIABILITY at the drivers expence.

yeah I have looked and looked also. My current truck is an 04 kw so its fine but I may have the chance to get my hands on a 359 pete single owner and same mechanics who work on my truck have done all the work on that truck and all have told me they wouldn't hesitate to jump in that truck and run down the road in it. it has been very well maintained and very well taken care of. I love them old petes and really like the mechanical engines. Ive already made up my mind I am going to buy it if I can ever get ahold of the guy but depending on what I find out about the EOBRs will decide if I keep the 04 or sell it

The requirement that the FMCSA gin up a rule complying with the mandate set by Congress is in law. I think that windmill you've been jousting with is getting the better of you.

Let's just say FMCSA has a little "Christmas gift" in store for the trucking world this year. You won't like it.

And if true, who is going to ''over see'' a one truck one trailer operation..?...This one man operation will be able to ''edit'' his/her e-log at any given time while still running when and how he wants...He has no one to answer to.?

dude, the law HAS been passed by congress. it was put in the last transportation and highway bill. it's right there in black and white for any one to read. this isn't rumor or heresay, and a quick Google search will put the highway bill at your finger tips to read for yourself.

I give it 2 years before its a mandated law. November will be when it is open for discussion, then if everything is good, next November will be a mandate, then probaly a year to comply with law.

So 2 more years to run amuck! Prices on general products should increase with rates being inflated by mega carriers and their magic training overnight express trucks. Places like Wyoming and other mountain states should look like a crash up derby during winter months with "Rookie training Rookie" pony express trucks.

Saftey should be at a 10 year low within 3-4 years, but the FMCSA should come up with another "lies in their favor" study to show Saftey is at its best because of the new law. All the experience old hands will be retiring soon, so the goverment will increase its dumping of the unemployed who don't want to be truckers into the industrie, and say "Training drivers while the trainer is in the sleeper berth is the best method we have found to make safe drivers out of unemployed lazy Americans, who don't want to work anyways. $300 a week pay and a roof over thier heads will make them want to do the best job."

Swift, Werner, and other Mega carriers will conclude with study's of thier own. "Our blind leading the blind training programs are at a all time high in Saftey." Meanwhile on the interstate in our world, new drivers will be falling asleep at the wheel with the new mandated cattle prod, I mean EOBR waking them up when they need a nap.

    Sound about right?
