Did you check out Hank's Truck Forum/Pictures? There are a lot of truck nuts on there that can probably give you a ton of info on them. If you've never been on it, you can spend hours checking out trucking history. Tons of pics, information, and old timers sharing stories of old trucking companies.

that's not what happened with CF, they were paying a very nice pension plan to Conway drivers as well, to keep them non union.

and don't take Rand seriously, she was off her rocker....along with all the "rand-ites" of today....

don't go digging around too much, you will start to realize how much the driver of today is getting hosed, compared to the driver of 40 years ago.....

The drivers of 40 years ago also weren't 500 pound sweatpant wearing entitlement hounds either that got the job done no matter what. That's when truckers were the Knights of the Highway. There was a lot more respectable men in those days.

I'm a 3rd generation driver. Trucking has been in my family for a long time. My Grandfather, my father, and my godfather, uncle Rube. I didn't just start driving as a fluke.

yeah, and most of those guys were teamsters, and anyone who drove a truck could pull a flat, a reefer, a tank, doubles, triples, etc. work boots and work wear were, and are, the name of the game. and you could take your break at a bar, and no one would bug you, because back in America, if you worked all day, it wasn't anyone else's business what you did, as long as you did a decent job, and no one got hurt.

Not to mention dress shirts and ties, short kept hair and "I can't" or "I won't" wasn't in their vernacular. Was common to see 5 trucks on the side of the road changing another driver's tire with him.

Hell, when we went to Miller or Bud, they had a break room for drivers with free beer... that's long gone!
