Pretty much the rumors are true. Alot of the yards are terrible with big pot holes. They dnt have chocks for the wheels, either its a 2x4 thats just laying around or there isn't one at all. You don't get paid for dropping and hooking. You dnt get paid when you have to wait on loads, when having to fuel up, etc... and you have to work the dock when you get back to your terminal...14 hrs everyday
But there are terminals where drivers dnt work the dock because they have dock workers. They only do about 10 hrs I think and go home.
And the trailers are terriblejmz Thanks this. -

I took the next thing that was available. I always wanted to work LTL anyway. I'm just trying to get my year of experience, I'm at 10 months now. With all of the things I said about central, its still better than the food service job. I never even saw a $2000 check there (got paid every 2 weeks) and that work is way harder. Plus at least I have a set schedule with weekends offTexas_hwy_287, Danny707, McUzi and 2 others Thank this. -

Is the pay decent? That’s one of the only redeeming factors I’ve heard about them, good pay and even a sign-on bonus. Are they still using newer 10-speed manual Peterbilts?McUzi Thanks this. -
Its not enough to be working 14 hrs imo... 1k a week, I've only been here 2 months tho. I guess it'll go up as you get more time injmz Thanks this. -
Are you doing P&D? A recruiter told me they'd consider hiring me when I graduate CDL school. I drove by the yard and ran-down is an understatement. I'm assuming your hourly and working 60 hours per week. Do they pay O/T? What time do you usually start/end your shift? And it's M-F, right? I'm willing to suffer it out to get my 12-months experience if the money makes sense.
