why not just rent from Penske at $575/week and 8 cents/mile, but $5000 deposit (ouch, but at least its a newer truck) and save money for six months to buy one outright.
Or RYDER for $400/week for a tandem sleeper plus 8 cents mile with first 500 miles free, Don't know how much deposit. Then pull someone else's trailer or buy from local owner on payments. Best part is no maintenance costs and allows 'green drivers' to start with little down and use other available start-up cash for fuel, insurance, food, etc.

Bogey ought to look into a job w/ Penske? Really, there's more money in sales work than in driving.
-
good point, I'll look into that, I've been told I would be a good salesman, and with the economy the way it is right now, it would make even more sense.
slabrunner Thanks this. -
Whole Sale Truck and Finance has a Ripoff Report about them.. saying that took $6000 from a guy cause he was "approved" but then later he found out he wasn't approved and they didn't give back his money.. and then the guy goes on to talk about how the ower had his house foreclosed.. the tricky part is that the owner of Whole Sale Truck and Finance rebuttals the report by saying that the guy who originally filed it was a computer for North South Leasing tryin to slander his business' name.. i donno what to think of it. not sure if i'll get in boo boo for this...

I don't think you would want to do the program at United, but if you have money for the huge down payment then you could get something for cash, because they want 5,000 to 9,000 down on trucks with 800,000 to 1,000,000 plus miles, so you could buy a truck like that with the cash. They do sell trucks like other dealers and I have seen some good deals there. I seen a good FLD in the truckpaper for 8,000 cash that looked to be in good shape and that was United Truck group???? The program is ###### so I would save up and buy a old truck that runs good. Good luck!

i think i'm most likely just gonna find a truck anywhere (Orgeon looks good) and just hire an independent inspector to inspect it for me and ask him questions ova the phone while he's next to the truck. do the paper work, fly out there with my tags and all and just spend a day or two driving back..

When I was looking for a truck this winter I found two that looked ok & gave up with all the inspections reports etc as I had reservations about both & the dealers who had them. Decided to flip a quarter & go that way. Spent twenty minutes looking for a quarter with no luck as I had washed my pick up that day. Took that as a sign to avoid both.
Really don't know how the KTS repo's, Amerilease(or whatever is in Memphis), United Truck Group & others sell anything. Without even talking to them they scream "you are going to get a screwin'" out of the deal. -
where did you end up getting your truck from?
-
why dont you try ArrowA fella that brought his truck to? Or even believe they are out of Iowa. get plated the same day I did, Had a nasty Divorce to deal with on his credit PLUS, His Child support was in the Rears! He spent just a little over$ 5500, 4200 down, the plane ride from Sacramento Ca to Iowa, 2 nites in a hotel room, plus fuel and fuel back to Ca and He got an 07 Volvo 780 w/509,000 miles on it. Now he said he had no ballon payment at the end, How true that is......well.

I was all about searching all over the country to find the best deal, but there really are some screwballs out there doing stuff you didn't think was still legal. Asked several guys who had bought at CIT in the past & most seemed happy, so stuck with a local dealer. Hopefully it all works out.
