I heard from someone knowledgable, that C W Johnson filed bankruptcy, in December. They've had 9-10 trucks sitting in the Penske yard, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, since the first of the year. They were doing the hauling for Dana, and lost that contract.
-
I heard today the trucks in Ft Wayne are sold. Someone bought the KW's, and someone else bought the Internationals sitting there.

I worked for CW Johnson, which was one of those contracted companys to US Xpress. Pretty disorganized, but they were just US Xpress ppl that were dealing with the CW people. Am I making any sense? I drove US Xpress equipment, with CW johnson logos. Pulled CW Johnson trailers, that had US Xpress permits. Was kinda confusing, who exactly was I driving for anyways?
There might be other divisions contracted to other companys thou. -
Does this make them borderline good? -
I am not sure to be honest. CW is/was contracted to many other companys as well. And as they grew, they contracted out even more. They were mainly a dedicated route carrier with USX, but since USX cant hold a dedicated route to save their life, they always lost the contracts. I was a casualty of this myself.

LaPurr you beat me to it again! I personally was never on the CW Johnson account but did get suckered into pulling a few loads right before US lost the account. It was pure mayhem trying to figure out things. If CW is going out that's a shame I heard they were a decent outfit to pull for, all the US drivers I knew on the CW dedicated loved it, mostly based out of central KY it got them home every other weekend.

Yea, it is happening but I strongly disagree with how it is and was handled with the drivers! Most all drivers that I heard from had to play 20 questions guessing among each other (because the fleet managers would not answer any questions) what was going on last week (including "where is my check"). I would not think this is how a prominent african-white-asian-whoever American businessman and proclaimed religious person should have handled things with his employees or were they just trucks and numbers. I know that these kinds of practices are completely against what the scriptures in my bible teaches.

C W Johnson is an incredibly unorganized company and it now shows since Celedon has bought out (I believe at least some of) their accounts. Rest assured they are out of business. The letter they sent out to their drivers says "As of August 15......" That is how the drivers (I cant speak for all of them but I did see one of the letters) found out for sure what was going on.......A LETTER.... real classy. They are closed. I cant wait to hear what he has to say about it.
