taking a screwdriver and ramming it into the chime with a hammer will sometimes work or perhaps simply unplug from the coolant sensor, on some you have to stick a booby pin in the two holes, either that or turn the radio up real loud.
now if ya ever get just a warning light with no sound, electrical tape will fix that in a jiffy -
bypassing doesn't work. tried paper clip method, wired both wires together. got new sensor and got new harness plugging into sensor. nothing works
just looking to bypass the chiming til our mechanic can look at it. where is the Chime located? can't I just disconnect it
not a mechanic, just a dumb truck driver looking to be less annoyed -
no one knows how to stop dinging?
-
don't think it's that simple as disconnecting something, you probably spread the terminals when you jammed the paper clip into the plug, repair/replace terminals in the connector...

Does it give you a code on the dash? Something like an SPN or PID, then and FMI #? Is the code really low coolant, or high/low voltage in the circuit? What engine? You most likely have a wiring issue somewhere. You should be able to get the actual code through your dash information screen or the touch screen (if you have that option).
As far as disabling the chime, don't bother. You have a Namux system in that truck, that chime is little speaker that is used for all your warnings as well as turn signal/4 way clicks.
If you really want to disable it, you need someone with your engine software to change the parameter. -
dash only says low coolant, not the exact code
changed the black sensor thing that goes into reservoir, and I've changed the harness/plug whatever you want to call it that plugs into that. neither of those 2 things helped
starting to think its the reservoir itself. the last 3 times it comes on. it absolutely will not go off no matter what even for a second. then when the truck is shut off for the night, it will still be on when I start it up, but if I remove the sensor and put it back in, it will go off, but when everything is still warm I could screw with sensor a million times and it won't go away
had a bad oil cooler a couple monts ago and oil on coolant. thinking something might be getting stuck in reservoir -
don't even know why this stupid truck has to ding. I can clearly see the low coolant light. isn't that enough? my international never dinged for something so stupid
-
wonder if a magnet on the end sensor will help me bypass it
-
I have seen the float inside the reservoir stick, causing that exact issue. slowly pull out the sensor and if the light goes out then comes back on as you pull it all the way out that means that the float inside is stuck...unfortunately the only fix is a new reservoir
daf105paccar Thanks this.
