I have a cdl B with air brakes. Im buying a truck because I spend around 20,000 a month on shipping, Im 41 and have driven dumps since I was 21 and hauled trailers with equipment drove cranes, T/A dumps but stayed under the Class A 10,000 law OR just never got caught lol. Im going to put a driver in one truck with hauls to Laredo Tx from Chicago area. I have only called one company about insurance and they said I need class A license or a CLOSE family member with class A. I can put a 10ton trailer on my ford250 and get my A license but I really dont have time. I have driven semi dumps with a permit and the owner next to me. Does anyone know of any companies that write these policies?

What policy are you looking for?

I mean this is straight forward, there isn't a requirement of you having a license to even drive a truck when you own it and have someone drive it for you.

Do you have your own authority or are you running under someone else's and you are leasing a truck to that company?

So you are going to do this because you are spending 20k a month on shipping, and you think that you are going to save some money?

Mad dog, I have to say.....I am a bit confused...

What is it exactly are you wanting/needing to do?
    Just for starters:
    1. Buy a truck and put a driver in it to haul your freight?
    2. Do you have your own authority to run that truck?
    3. Will you use that truck for anything other than pulling your own freight?
There is a lot missing in the equation

I posted this question because the person I spoke with on the phone who said I need a close family member to have a CDL acted like I wasnt going to get insurance because I didnt have a class A. I do my research and this post was part of it. I got it covered now. I have a MC# DOT# Process agent. Thanks for the info.
