Your goverment and also the trucking organisations say different people retire or leave the industry they are in for other reasons' seats need to be filled as economy's get bigger more trucks are needed to haul freight more people come into the country' and it goes on I think you have a problem with people coming to start a new life in Canada !

    Ok how about this.
Send everybody over 35 into retirement. Close all the driving schools in Canada. Do not let anymore foreigners into this country. No Turks, No Pakis, No Brits, No Scott's!!!!!! Guys under 30, take their driver licences away. Force the economy into bankruptcy. " Who cares about business as long as I'm OK. "
    This should increase wages."
    What do I care, I'm O/O.
But I think that would be something like NAZI GERMANY !!!!!
Please take this post with a grain of salt, just something to think about and only one man's opinion.

It's all bs, there is no driver shortage. There's a shortage of good paying jobs. Companies need to pay more and then maybe all the people that left cuz they were making minimum wage would come back. Why drive a truck when you could make more at McDonald's and be home every night! I don't work a regular highway job just for that reason. I wouldn't work for the minimal pay so I've always found better paying driving jobs.

I have no problem with people trying to better themselves but not at the cost of companies bringing in foreign workers so they can pay less and not a decent liveable wage to a Canadian when there's tons here that need jobs. My grand parents were immigrants too but they also knew not to work for cheap. Opened there own company and charged appropriately. His quotes were even more expensive but he kept getting jobs due to his quality of work.

Oh what would I give to be young again. Well nate980, I like your passion for Canadian drivers. Your passion comes from the heart. Age and wisdom will probably change this opinion not words and arguments. So lets agree to disagree.
Agri Tel Transportation. Small comp. only about 25 Trucks. In my opinion the best Reefer comp. in Manitoba.

    Good for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is hope! I'm an immigrant myself. I have worked in Canada for 30 years. Mechanic, Automotive instructor, service manager and now (semi retired) Truck driver and O/O. All I'm saying is give people a chance.
They might surprise you by how much they can contribute to this great country.

I would pass on Agritel unless you want to work for nothing! When it comes to reefer work most are really bad. Besides why do you want to do reefer. Out of Manitoba there are many that run California and Oregon. You will end up doing resets on the road and delivering to Regina in the middle of the night. Lots of waiting and no pay. Have you considered Big Freight. Flat deck but I think they hire foreign drivers.

Ok Bruce, have you worked for them? Check out there web side. Check out there pay + bonus. Talk to there drivers.
Yes, you are right there are better paying jobs. But we are talking reefer out of Manitoba. I challenge you to name a comp. in Manitoba that has better equipment / pay and drivers satisfaction. If you like better pay, go to Fort Muddy. If you like to run a reefer out of MB into Cali shop around and see what you come up with. The grass is always greener on the other side.
flatbed pays better, Boom truck pays better, oversize pays better, crude or fertilizer pays better............ but he did ask for reefer.

I would say that Trappers or Turc are far better. Have you seen the annual pay increase? It is a joke. Unlike other reefer outfits they do not pay for inspections border crossings layover and more They do not have APU's and do not want you to run the truck all night. Have you ever been to California in July with no A/C. I have a friend that tried working for them he hated it. Was gone very quickly. If they only have 25 drivers and and they are treated so well why do they have so much turnover. Ads run almost every month. No real terminal. A parking lot in Winnipeg or a farm yard in the country. Have you seen Trappers setup? Onsite service in the most modern shop in Winnipeg. On site Husky cardlock. On site Scale SECURE parking for your own vehicle. What do the Winnipeg drivers do with their vehicles when they go on a run? Are their plug ins. Have you seen the drivers lounge. How many of those 25 drivers are O/O. Plus Trappers and Turc pay more. I don't think Trappers hires foreign drivers. Most of the outfits that do are second rate. They hire the aliens as local Canadians don't want to work for them at the low pay.. Think H&R. NORB: You don't post much and almost all of them are cudos for Agri. Do you work there? Or are you part of the management???

Once again a genuine enquiry on the Canadian forum turns to ####. Typical of this part of the forum.
